Toyota Readies New Plant For 2019 All-New Toyota Corolla Altis

A recent report by Japan's Nikkei Asian Review regarding Toyota's expansion in Mexico and China has suggested that the next generation Toyota Corolla Altis will be built based on the company's new TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform, and is likely to make its global debut in the US in 2019.

The current 11th generation Toyota Corolla Altis was lauched in Malaysia in 2014, slightly one year after the model made its global debut in USA and Europe, albeit with a different exterior styling for both regions, with Malaysia adopting the European market model's styling.

Toyota has yet to make an official announcement on the matter but according to Nikkei, Toyota is expected to spend some 150 billion Yen to construct a new plant in China in 2018, and in Mexico in 2019.

The Chinese plant will be built in Guangzhou and will have a capacity of 100,000 cars per year while the Mexican plant will be built in Guanajuato, with a capacity of 200,000 cars per year. The Mexican plant is also said to be equipped to build TNGA platform Toyota Corollas and will serve as a model factory for other new Toyota factories around the world.
